The Data Collector randomly crashes, what could be causing the issue?
Last Updated 9 years ago
On Data Collector versions pre dating V1.50.95 the Data Collector could crash if it received bad frame data. Bad frame data can be caused by either a problem with the serial card or a problem with the serial transmission for example, the serial cable being used may be longer than the recommended range for serial cables(15 metres). This would result in ProcessVue capturing garbled messages which could prompt the Frame error to occur.
Upgrading the Data Collector to V1.50.95 or greater will stop the Data Collector from crashing, but it will not fix the underlying serial issue. This should be resolved separately.
